so i changed plugs and wires and did the tune up and i thought we had a distributor cap or igntion coil pack that i read, was a cam synced one, i never thought to think that we had a cap/coil that just comes out now that im reading this from other places and researching even autozone and other webistes they do have it, i didnt change that part out is it just the top 4 screws and remove and replace and bolt back down?? would this cause a feel like a motor mount problem? the car idles fine, shifts fine, has no problems i just feel a jolt/shutter and cant seem to figure it out besides maybe a fuel filter and that, besides the motor mount.. anyone have more info on these maybe the in-cam syned coil pack is in the new models ????:salute:

Check the OBDII engine codes. If the coil pack is causing a problem it would be misfiring which engine codes would pick up on. Yes it just bolts on, though some people have stated that they felt like they should clean the rust off the metal it bolts to.

I'm curious though that you write that the car idles fine but has a jolt/shutter. How are you differentiating that as idling fine because I would take a jolt/shutter to mean it's idling rough. Oh BTW a shutter is a panel attached to a window that can be closed for privacy.

Do you notice the problem at all engine RPMs or only idling?

Does it constantly shudder or do it for a moment then stop? I'm wondering if you need your IAC valve cleaned or replaced.

If the fuel filter hasn't been replaced in recent years or you have a reason to believe that dirty gas was put in the tank, or if the problem just started after putting some fuel injector cleaner in that might've dislodged some gunk stuck in the tank, then you might want to replace the fuel filter now anyway just because it's inexpensive, but getting a fuel rail pressure test done would tell you if the fuel system up to the injectors is flowing at the right pressure. I doubt that's the problem if you're not getting misfire engine codes.

hey hows it going, i have ethos in school, and all the data readers im going to be a mechanic i just got into school, the computer said no misfires, no 02 problems or heated problems.. shudder is going on only when im in the state of Idling ( parked or on brake waiting to go ) the rpms dont jump, car dont stall runs strong jumps off the line everytime, starts right up.... the shudder is a jolt/ vibration like the body on the car shakes and you can feel it through the seat or down the tailpipe... thanks in advance if you heard or seen anything, i googled a hundred times found a few people but noone has the symptoms i have because my engine runs good, and others have bad rpms and idling problems to stalling and i do not

bought the car three weeks ago, thought a tuneup and a whole bunch would help that feeling, its not even like a misfire boggle or bad engine slop, i just ran complete fuel cleaner package through car, i just dont know signs of bad transfer case, or tranfer case fluid needs to be changed symptoms, u joint, driveshaft, i have not made it in those classes yet, but im on the idea of body mounts and engine mounts also... the truck has been doing it since i bought it

When my IAC valve first started to need cleaning, I noticed a shudder at idle whenever the A/C compressor engaged. I noticed it did it much less often if I turned the A/C off. After cleaning the IAC it stopped doing it.

I would think any other problem would make itself worse when you've moving and/or at higher RPM, although a vacuum leak seems possible except I'd expect a OBDII code to register from that.

Can someone tell me what each solenoid controls in 2000 explorer xls with 5r55e transmission

i will clean the iac this weekend if it doesnt down pour from this storm comin in lol... i have the 4.0 sohc vin E 4wd AWD version.. does anyone else have ideas or thoughts of what could be going on ????? I see the pcv T splitter but when you follow the lines behind the thermostat is goes behind the pulleys and down the front of the engine block and i lose it, how do i change the pcv valve or locate and tighten the tubes back or check them... ?? just a thought and some more help i figure i can post at the same time
