2000 Ford Explorer XLT upper console

How do I remove the upper console to replace the Compass display? This does NOT have a sunroof.

Open the compartment that is for putting the garage door opener in, pull the screws out and then pull the console down. The back is held into the bracket by clips that will pop out with a little pressure.

Thanks! How do i seperate the plug in from the compass to the dome light?

Ok i seperated them and the old compass display has a flat tin piece that runs around where the domelight bulbs go but my new display doesnt look like it comes with that. do i need it?
