The old 92 Ex is getting up there and repairs make replacment seem like a better deal economically. I'm looking at a 2000 with 98k on it and read some stuff on the internet about transmission problems. Does anyone know whether the transmission is a prevailing problem for these? About when do they give out.
If anyone is interested in knowing a little history, I bought the 92 with 135k on it (tranny had already been replaced b previous owner) and it's now got 203k. Still runs well, but hesitates off the line in cold weather for about the first mile and needs the AC fixed. Can't figure out the first problem (there's no EGR valve and have replaced the IAC and PCV valves) and can't afford the second (I don't know how to work on ACs and it would cost around a grand to fix). Good memories for the most part in a MANUAL TRANSMISSION Explorer.
