- 2000 North Face
Currently on fleabay with photos - item number: 230284223004
2000 Ford Explorer North Face Silver
3 owners, 137000 miles with full service history (mostly Ford).
Tax till 01/09, MOT 04/09
Good points:
A lot of car for your money and fully electric with heated seats, sunroof, cd changer etc (cost £2,500 in May '08).
Still falls into cheap tax bracket!
Returns 26/27 mpg on motorway journeys despite the 4litre engine (engine @ less than 2,000 rpm to go 70mph!!)
Pulls like a train and plenty of power when needed.
Super comfortable, drives very well and eats up the miles effortlessly.
Tow bar fitted and only used 5 times to tow boat - £250 (have now sold boat hence sale of vehicle).
4x4 system works fine - £150 (spent money to ensure this worked when I got the vehicle).
Rear windows with limo tint for security - £200 (plus I think it really makes the vehicle).
No warning lights when engine is started (please see photo).
All documentation & manuals present.
2 sets of keys with remotes.
Service history:
20,005
30,487
39,727
51,400
60,733
71,371
87,534
96,232
106,575
136,324
Bad points (I am always 100% honest please see my feedback including recent sale of a Vauxhall Tigra):
Self-levelling suspension light sometimes comes on. Sometimes after 5mins sometimes after an hour and sometimes never. May be due to system not being turned off before being jacked up for new tyres at MOT - to reset both rear wheels need to be jacked up.
Automatic aerial does not go all the way back in.
Alloys could do with a refurb. Corrosion where lacquer has come away (common problem on the North Face wheels).
Scratch on passenger door (front & rear) - see photo.
Few stone chips on bonnet (nothing major given the motorway miles that this vehicle has done).
Cruise control does not appear to work (switches look like they've been well used so am guessing it's a faulty switch).
Rear wiper does not work (common problem on these I believe).
Few bumper marks but nothing major given the age & miles.
No other known problems.
Price:
The vehicle owes me over £3,000 since May but I'm willing to let it go for £2,500....this means that effectively you get the tinted windows, tow bar, 4x4 repair & tax for nothing. Don't forget that it's taxed & MOT'd and comes with full service history.
