2000 ranger burning oil after shop replaced heads... HELP

So got heads replaced at local shop about 1yr ago.. long story now burning about three four quarts between oil changes? white smoke out of tail pipe in morning until it warms up. i have been told several things oil lift rings? i just need help!!

if it started immediatly after they swapped the head then either the head is bad or the gasket was installed wrong, if it started before or a while after it could be bad rings or a worn out bottom end
