Our Ranger is having trouble starting up. It keeps going dead and it takes alot of time to get the idle up. It is acting like our 99 XLT Explorer did a couple of years ago when we replaced the IAC valve. Does the Ranger have the same kind of valve and if so does anyone know how to get to it. Will just cleaning it be a start in solving the problem? Thanks

same thing, IAC. It probibly needs replaced but you can try to clean it with an electrical cleaner.

Which engine does your Ranger have?

4 cylinder, 3.0 Liter, 5-speed. Not much power but it gets my husband around. I am just trying to get info for him so that we can fix it. Thanks..

well the 4 banger from 98-00 is the 2.5L other years its the 2.3L

then they have the 3.0L V6 and the 4.0L V6

on my 98 ranger 2.5L did that one morning, just happened over night, I had to replace the MAS and then it ran like a champ... about $75 and about 5 min to replace

also, there is a site just like this one, but for the Ford Ranger, try checking it out some time, lots and lots of info....

Thanks.. I will look into that. Also, it is the 2.5L; I was given the wrong info.
