2000 XLT (AWD) grinding with new front axles. ( I searched but... read)

IIRC, they made a change several months back on the heels of a for-sale fiasco of some sort. If my memory serves, you must be an elite explorer member before you can post in the For Sale forum...

But I could be wrong, so don't quote me on that one...

I may know within a week if I need a 3.73 dana front differential. (Loud ROAR with all new parts around it) I'll get back to you soon.

Go Figure!!!

It WAS the hub! It was only six months old and even though it was tight and quiet, the roaring noise disappeared when I swapped it out! For some reason, the left side hub failed prematurely. During the test drive, before the repair, when I made a sharp right hand turn, the noise would go away and it was more pronounced on the left hand turn. If anyone else has a hub problem like this, I hope my post helps!

Looks like I won't need the Dana Front Differential (yet!)
