I have the 5R55E transmission, and I have been having some problems with reverse. Everything works fine if I shift into reverse and back up extremely slow. However, if i try to give it some gas, or if i am backing up a steep hill, it jerks really hard and struggles to back up. I was wondering if anyone had seen something similar. Tried searching through the threads, but didnt see something exactly the same. Thinking this might be a problem with the reverse gear itself. Any thoughts??? I appreciate any help you guys can give me...

Do you have any issues with manual 1st gear? Does this problem only happen on steep hills? What about normal driving on a steep hill? It could be several possibilities such as bad valve body gaskets, loose valve body bolts, worn low/reverse servo O rings, low/reverse servo cover gasket, low fluid or bad filter O rings. Valve body related parts would be the EPC solenoid or the reverse modulation spool.

transmission woes

It is the automatic tranny. no problems with other gears. tranny was recently rebuilt. i am slightly mechanically inclined, so i will check out as much as possible, but i really dont have anywhere to actually pull the transmission out. if i can narrow down the problem area that would help out a lot...
