This is my first post. I have a 2001 Eddie Bauer Explorer that the Blower fan continously runs on High speed as soon as I start the vehicle. I cannot adjust the speed of the fan. What do I need to to look at. It has the auto climate control. When I hit the OFF button it keeps running full blast. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks

Fan motor has 2 wires that go to it. The positive wire is supposed to be live whenever the ignition is on and it supplies 12 volts. The second wire is the negative or ground wire. The amount of ground is varied to control the speed of the motor. If the motor is on high, ground is maximum. This could be caused by several things.
The blower resistor is the most common fault. A short circuit to ground could cause your problem. The automatic temperature controls could also cause your problem.
Take an ohmeter and check resistance on the ground wire going to the motor and see if resistance varies as you switch the fan speed from low to high.

blower speed controller is the problem

It did turn out to be the blower resistor. I replaced it and works fine. I like to thank everyone for their help
