2001 Explorer Sport Pinging on acceleration only not when revving the motor.

Sweet, glad to hear everything is fixed up and for $800 at that. Which timing chain ended up causing the noise?

Once my truck comes out of warranty shocks are going to be the first thing to be changed. IMO the stock shocks on 4th gens are way too soft.

Primary Tensioner was the culprit. old one had 3 leave springs and the new OEM part had 8!. It probably would have lasted but i hated the noise. Quiet now and rides great with the new shocks. If anyone one is interested. It was Tommy's Automotive in West Chester PA that did the work. Excellent mechanic. He'll be getting anything I don't feel comfortable with fixing myself! Honest Guys not looking to make a fast buck!
