2001 Explorer Sport trans problems

Hi,
I have 2001 Ford Explorer Sport 4wd. My transmission failed the mechanic tells me that the 4th gear gear and the turbine broke apart. He tells me that I caused the problem by letting the fluid in the transmission become low by 1.6qts. Could this actually happen from 1.6 qts of fluid being down?

Welcome to this forum! What code numbers came up? Sometimes it could be a simple problem with the white connector which needs to be cleaned.

not to hijack.. but mine is acting wierd but is full of fluid and it is clean. what is this white connector you speak of?

This is the main connector on the transmission's wiring harness.

Did you truck slip any? They should slip way before you break it. I boiled 4-6 quarts out of my A4LD and it didn't bother it at all....Once I filled it back up!
