2001 Explorer stuck in 4x4 low.

My Explorer is stuck in 4x4 low. I have shifted into neutral and with the brake depressed switched to 2wd but all that happens is a clicking noise coming from the glove box area. Any thing i can do myself?

only thing that comes to mind is pulling off the shift motor and switching the selector back manually.
