Hey all first time post hope this is in the right place but here goes. I bought 2 identical 2001 explorer sport trac 4.0, paid $600 for 1 and $900 for the other. I was expecting basically parts trucks as I was after some stuff for my 97. After getting them home I find to my surprise that they BOTH actually run very smooth so instead of using them for parts I put the used transmission that came with them and a battery in 1 and it now runs and drives(I still can't believe that part). Now I'm trying to get the other 1 driving as the engine looks and sounds like it does not have 155k miles. Looks too clean and runs unbelievably well. The transmission does absolutely nothing(the other truck had just a bad slipping so I knew electrical and wiring components were functioning) the other truck doesn't make a noise or engine idle down so I'm not sure if everything electrical is functioning on it and before I put this transmission I've rebuilt in. The wiring harness looks modified and there's a sticker under the hood from Ford dealership stating a modification was made. Does anyone know where I can get both wiring harness diagrams for the 5r55e for the 2001 ford explorer sport trac? The trucks both have 8th letter E vin but the engines are definitely not the same. At least the top anyway. 2 different intake setups. Pretty sure the wiring is the culprit because when I first got under it to look I found this. See pic

Did a little more investigating......it appears the pin for the neutral safety switch was bent. I haven't looked at a diagram yet but I'm sure this is important as it's the red/white(or red/grey?) Which a speed sensor also has that same color wire so I'm assuming it's important. See pic

Hey man, a great resource I’ve used a billion times while working on my cars is Charm.li it’s got manuals for the sport and sport trac of this year for sure. Little hard to navigate at times but it’s definitely got wiring diagrams and pinouts for most if not all connectors in the vehicle! Hope this helps in your journey to bring these STs back on the road!

Thanks! So far I have 2 rebuilt(by me) 5r55e transmissions ready to be installed but if I need to mod the harness or transmission in any way I'd rather it be not already installed in the truck. The truck I already trans swapped is still running and driving great. It already has 500+ miles on it and still no issues at all.

That’s awesome man! Praying the day where my transmission sees a rebuild is far in the future haha
