My 2001 Sport has a power drivers seat but it doesn't have lumbar support, it doesn't bother me much, except on long trips.
Is there an easy way to add this?
Can I just swap out the seats for ones that have lumbar, I'm not sure if the electical would be right or not.

And to anyone whose bought new seats, how much did it cost?

You can get some of the 2002 model seats with manual lumbar. The '03 seats have a completely different style and have power lumbar but I think that it would have to be wired.

I wonder if I could just put the manual lumbar from a 2002 into my 2001's seats?

It's probably possible. Can't be too hard.

My 2000 has manual lumbar. Do Sports not have lumbar?

Mine doesn't. I bought it used and the only thing it didn't have that I wanted was full power seats.

When you say manual lumbar, do you mean a little ball pump like in office chairs?

i think its the little thing that you turn

My 2000 Sport with power cloth seats has the lumbar adjust. It's a twist knob to the front of the power controls.

Eric, are you absolutely sure that your's dosen't have the adjustment knob? I thought all the power seats had the lumbar adjustment.........?

Yeah I'm sure it doeasn't have it. I only have one control it controls the bottom of the seat. I don't have any electronic control of the back of the seat either.
I guess I just have cheap seats. I would love to upgrade them but I don't want to spend a bundle.

Wow that doesn't make sense. I have cloth seats, but have power motion. No power lumbar though. It's a grey knob in front of the seat controls, and you turn it to control lumbar. I guess you do have strange seats. Don't sound like stock Ford seats.

They're stock, the match the rear seats perfectly.
Here's what the look like, yes I know I need to vacuum.

That is strange. Doesn't look like my seat at all. The lever for the seat back is black plastic. The power knob looks the same...is the dial on the front of the seat? That's how the Taurus is...

Well I think our seats would be somewhat different.
Mine needs to slide forward to get into the rear.
But no, there isn't a knob on the front either.

mine are the same as yours ERIK... the sports seats are totally different in 01+ than any other Explorer model.

Your right. I remember when I was looking at new Sports back in 2001. They didn't have lumbar on the cloth seats. My 2001 says that lumbar was only available with the leather.

Good to hear you have the same seat as I do. I was begining to think I had some b@stard seats or something.
But other than replacing the seats any ideas for adding lumbar support?
