We all know the economy is tight, and I was hoping to change the fuel filter myself and maybe change the steering fluid to save some money, but also don't want to screw anything up. LOL

1. I was reading in some places, maybe using a Turkey baster and sucking the fluid out, and refilling the steering fluid. Possibly doing that a few times 3-4 days apart so that it would clear the system? Any thoughts on that?

2. Is the fuel filter easily accessible to wear I could change it myself? I have about 95000 miles on my truck and it needs to be changed. And is there any special tools, or maybe anything I need to do. I was reading about the letting the pressure out before I change it

Any help you guys could give would be great.

Thanks.

Yes on the power steering fluid with the turkey baster. Pull as much fluid out as you can, get in the truck, start it up, turn the wheel all the way both directions a couple of times, turn of the car, and repeat.

My fuel filter was not that hard. Remove the fuse, run the car till it wont start/run any more, get the tool to remove it from the auto store, get your filter (my original one was a wix, which is what I replaced it with), and be patient, as the tool takes some finagling with to get the filter to remove.

I have some left over puppy training pads which are nice to catch the gas that you will spill. You will spill some, so be ready. I probably spilled a pint or 2.

Good luck!

Thanks for all the info guys! I appreciate it!
