2001 Sport Trac wheel hubs.

Hello.. I live in B.C Canada ,and I have just found this great Explorer site and I really need some info on my Explorer Sport Trac 2001 model.

It needs new wheel bearings fitting and I cannot afford the $300 per side for the full hub and bearing assembly.Is it possible for the average guy to just buy the wheel bearings themselves and fit them without having to fit the full hub unit. Has anyone done this task..? Apparently it is the ABS electrics attatched to the hub bit that is the problem with just replacing the bearings..is this so..?

Any help would be really appreciated.

This how to is for replacing the CV axle but you have to do the same work to replace the wheel bearings.

Its not hard to do at all, if you can change your brakes you can change your hub assembly. All you need are some sockets and a ratchet, though I seem to recall needing a hammer for something.
