Hi, I have the electronic controlls that operate the defrost and the mirror defrost. When I push the defrost button, the switch light turns on for one second then immediately shuts off. So, how do I determine if its the switch, controller, fuse, relay or re-defrost unit? thanks

Hi,

I was hoping someone might be able to offer some troubleshooting advice here. I swapped out the entire electronic controller with one I found online. It does exactly the same thing. So now I'm wondering what to check next? Thanks for any help offered.

my 2003 doing the same thing. However the rear window does still defrost.

Nothing is working other than the light going on for about 1 second and shutting off after I hit the button. Anyone know how to test or what to look for? thanks

Wish I could help, but I do not recall having seen discussions on this problem in 6 years on this site (I usually just read - not post). Nor am I familiar with how this system works.

Does you rear window defrost anyway, like Peter Moon's does, even though the switch extinguishes?

Well, I'll give it a couple days then I wonder if I might have more success requesting to move this post to the electronics section?

oh... it does not work at all... the mirrors or the back window. (wish it did)

Maybe the relay is bad? Try switching it with another one to see.

in peter's case, it seems as how the only issue is the small light inside the button... if u could, when u hit this button, get someone to put their ear next to the fusebox under the hood to listen for an audible "click" that occurs inside the relay... if there is no noise, that may be the issue... if not, it may be more complicated than that

can't hear anything by the fuse box... is there a relay there for the rear defrost? One more thing, the side mirrors don't defrost either... the owners manual say they activate with the rear defrost, thanks for the help!
