2002 delayed shifting

My 2002 Edie bauer has a delay when put on drive or reverse (with a klunk sound) sometimes on 2nd and 3rd gear. Scanned but no codes. Brought it to a transmission shop and they said that i need to replace the tranny. Is there anything i can do before replacing the trans.

if you all ready scan'd for codes and didnt' get any. you may have to have it rebuilt. or it could be low on fluid possibly? im pretty sure your trans is a sealed unit (5r55e), so you may have to take it to ford. i think theres a sticky on here that tells you how to check/add fluid to trans with some sort of adapter.

Fluid level is ok, sometimes i have the OD light blinking but resets when switching engine off and on.
