I bought a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer AWD, 4.0 V6. I love the way the vehicle looks and how it handles. I did have some issues when I bought it. The ABS light was on and the service engine soon light with the over drive light was flashing. WHen I take off first gear would reach 3000 RPM or more than finally change to second gear. I had it checked and code P0775 came up. I replaced the ABS sensor which I found in the forums to be common. I also replaced the Control Solenoid in the transmission which is what the code said was wrong.
The transmission still does not shift like it should. First gear is not as bad, but still takes a little while to shift to second. It shifts fine unless I accelerate hard, then thats when it does not shift into second unless you let off the gas. No more lights coming on, just this problem.
My quesion: is there anyting else I can do to fix this problem, besides rebuild my tranny.
Also a little dealership in town has a 2002 explorer, 4.0 V6 that looks and runs great. Is the tranny the same as the mountaineer and if not is there still problems with the tranny like the mountaineers 5w55r?
Sorry for the long post.
