2002 Ford Explorer shudder when braking (steering column shudder)

Hello all, first post here, great forum, I've learned a ton already.

A question, if I may: my 2002 explorer XLT exhibits a good amount of "shudder" when we brake. We feel the shuddering mainly up the steering column and the shudder is present when braking/decelerating from highway speeds as well as lower "around town" speeds.

Any ideas or suggestions where I might look? I search a bit on the site and it seems there could be rotor hot spot issues or perhaps a different problem with worn bushings?

Sounds like your rotors are warped, get new rotors or get em shaved
