Hi guys, I have a couple questions. I'm not going to lie, I am a big NOOBIE when it comes to this stuff. I just bought a 2002 sport trac and now i've been doing my research. anyways my first question is this.... What is the biggest size tires I could fit with no lift, everything stock? Also, I was thinking about doing this, (tell me if it sounds good) I was going to get a 3" body lift and 32" tires and 15" black steel wheels. Would this work and look good? Please help I need some intelligent help here please. THANK YOU VERY MUCH

ok thank you trj360. I guess 30" tires are max without a lift. I plan on getting a 3" body lift though. So i should be able to fit 32 or 33's on. Is a 3" body lift the only thing I need or should I do shackles and torsion twist?

i'm not sure if you will "need" the TT and shackles, but it's always nice to have an extra inch or two to play around with, especially since it's so easy to do/ cheap to do. just fyi, i had to do those to my truck, but for some reason i thought the STs had bigger wheel wells. hopefully somebody will reply who knows a little more about them than i do.

hey trj your explorer is awsome btw. and is that only a 3" body lift and your TT+ shackles? looks a little more. And how much did u get your tires for?

the lift is just what i have in my signature. tires were about $200 each but pro comp had a buy 3 get one free sale.

ST's do have bigger wheel wells. You should be able to fit 31's no problem. Some fit 32's but i would still do a TT and shackles for the rear.

So do you think I should do a 3" body lift or a 3" body lift and TT/rear shackles? How much is a torsion twist?

if you are talking amount, it's between 1 and 2 inches of lift. If you are talking cost, it costs 15 minutes of your time.

my personal opinion, dont waste ur money on a body lift... if ur gunna spend that much for a lift and do TT twist and shackles, make it all suspension... ur not gaining ground clearance from a body lift unless u put bigger tires and it throws off everything since it raises the body off the frame... my 2 cents

BIGAPPLE... A body lift+TT/shackles will cost about about 400 tops. A suspension will be 1800. That's a big difference. And I thought with a tt you do get a little more ground clearance.

never said a torsion twist wouldnt lift cuz it def does since it lowers the control arms and lifts the suspension up... and ur looking at "suspension lift" too generically... u could buy aftermarket torsion bars, new torsion keys, and lift blocks and get a solid 3 inches out of ur stock suspension setup as opposed to buy an 1800 dollar "kit" that completely changes ur suspension... good luck getting the body lift done for 400 cuz ur going to be charged out the ass for labor... my brother had a body lift done on his f150 and yea it looks good but he said it was a huge waste of money... ran him around 700 bucks after it was all said and done

Body lift $135
Shackles $55
TT - Free

Learning to work on your truck - Priceless

Do it yourself. Much cheaper, you get experience, you feel better about the work you've done. Also, if i'm correct, STs are Spring under axle, so lift blocks would lower it. When "all is said and done" it's way cheaper (and still quality) to go body lift, tt, and shackles. The only thing that REALLY gives ground clearance is tire size, as the axles cannot be lifted like everything else can.
