I have an 02 mountaineer. I took into a shop this morning to have egr valve and tube replaced. Also replaced coil and plug on #4 cylinder. Had fault codes for both so replaced them. Tech started it, it fired right up idled smooth. Sounded good for a change. He took it out for road test it went about half a mile and tech said it just shut off. Got it back to shop engine turns over but wont start. Fuel pump tested good. Fuel pressure is 40 with key on. When attempting start fuel pressure is 60.
There is pulse to injectors. Replaced crank sensor still wont start. Engine is 4.6 with about 153,400 miles on it. Just bought it about 3 weeks ago has run fairly strong with only minor issues. Fixed issues and now this. I am stumped, so is tech at this point. Any advice would be appreciated. He is gonna do compression test next. But it puzzles me how it can run so strong and good then after replacing egr and a coil. It shuts off and wont start.
