2002 ford explorer
Hello all- first time posting and love the forum. Please read on, as this will sound like all the other P0775 posts, although it leads to something different with a new question. 2002 ford explorer v6 4 wd, codes p0775- flashing 4wd high and low, and od lights, hard shift 2-3 and slipping. Took into to trusted tranny repair. Burnt tranny fluid. They rebuilt the tranny, and on a side note-needed rear wheel bearings too.

Now it gets tricky- test drive results in no 4wd high or low. No light indicators coming on…won’t shift into 4whl high or low. Tranny repair shop said it didn’t have 4 whl when I dropped it off. News to me as it had 4 wheel before the tranny problems. Did this coding tranny problem have anything do with turning off the 4 wheel drive- what could have gone wrong here> Thanks all

If you had functionality of your 4x4 selection and now dont, id say you got screwed and should talk to the shop and make them fix it or take em for a legal ride. But to fix your issue, start with the basics of resetting your computer by disconnecting your battery first. This will cause the computer to reset and calibrate itself. If that doesnt work id check your fluid level for the trans. Should take 10.2 quarts of mercon v if those dont work, there may be a disconnected or damaged sensor

4X4 module always goes bad on 2002 Explorers, you can try unplugging it and then plugging it back in to see if it works. It is under the glovebox area and is 2 connectors. It is either the module or they forgot to plug 4X4 motor in when they had trans out.
