Can anyone tell me if PO 171 and 174 (lean bank 1 and lean Bank 2) usually indicates that both upstream o2 sensors are bad or are there other things that can cause those codes to trigger? And if just one is bad would it show a lean code for both banks? Due to the ecm making adjustments?
Please help what fuel economy I had has gone down the tube.

It will usually mean your PCV hose elbow has a split in it. Check the bottom side of it.

I decided I had better add photos!

I appreciate it, lots of stuff under the hood and not a lot of room!

just get the elbow at kreagen. or your local parts store. cost me 6 bucks to fix it

Elbow was roughly 13.00 at napa, a far cry from the 58.00 ea. I was going to pay for the o2 sensors.
Can't tell you how much i appreciate the help!!

Either of you two guys care to post the part number of the hose you bought. Might save others a bit of trouble. Did NAPA/Kragen show an application for that or did you go by shape/dimensions? (I'm surprised if you found a parts person that can do that anymore!)

I had the check engine light come on, codes said the same. So I checked the elbow, and the was a large slit along the seam. I went to NAPA and replaced it with no issue. But when I went to drive it, it will not go over 3k rpm. It just spits and sputters. Took out the air filter to make sure that wanst clogged and the same again. Rechecked all hoses and they are good and connected.
Any suggestions where to go next?

It won't go over 3K rpm when you're in gear & moving or just when it's in PARK or NEUTRAL and you rev it? It has a rev limiter so you can't over rev it in P & N.

It was in park at the time.I did test drive it after that post, and it would get to speed with no problems. But again at 3k it boggs down. If I back off it will run ok. It will get up to freeway + speeds.

Changed the fuel filter, ever? May need to get the fuel pressure checked.

dang it, my hose was split at the top of it. Thanks to this thread I was able to replace it easily but its still hard to start, I've got a new fuel filter and plugs too...

Thanks guys was having the same problem replaced it and works perfect

the guys at my local kragen gave me the hose for free. and before i put it on i was at a pick n pull and found a perfectly good heater hose that had the 90 degree bend in it and had the little metal clamps too. i picked it up for a dollar. got home, cut it to size and it fit perfectly. thanks to steve's info, i was saved a ton of headache and wasted time and money as i was preparing to replace the manifold gaskets before he hti me with the knowledge!
