- 2002 Explorer Sport Trac
Hello all...
I have a virtually like-new 2002 Explorer Sport Trac.
I have a quick question here. I use high mileage Mobil 1 synthetic oil and usually wait 7-10K miles to change my oil, even though they guarantee it up to 20K. I also use more expensive, extended mileage oil filters. Just recently I purchased new oil and a filter, subsequently changing my oil, and then I came to realize that the filter (although shown in the FRAM size booklet as the one for the Explorer Sport Trac) did not fit at all, so I had to bring that back.
In the mean time, I had to keep the oil filter that I had (good, they say, for up to 20K miles) on the vehicle.
Knowing this, my questions are, "Can I change out the oil filter now without losing too much of the new synthetic oil that I put in the vehicle?" How much is typically lost when you change the oil filter in a vehicle like this, while not changing the oil?
Thanks in advance - anyone?
