Daughter in laws car, just started acting up last week with this particular problem. apparently car will start but will shut down immediatly when putting in gear but then would be fine rest of trip. now, sometimes it will drive for a while but then shut off. last night she said had hard time getting home, she would start car and sometime she could give it gas and engine would rev up but then shut down. she says sometimes when it starts it will die as soon as she gives it gas. I'm only going by what she has told me and i'm trying to fix a vehicle over the phone. any advice would help right now. 2002 ford explorer xlt.
