I have seen several threads on this but I need a little more information before I attempt it. I have a 2003 Eddie Bauer explorer with the 4.0L SOHC . I have a coolant leak from the passenger side that is not a water pump issue.

When removing the timing chain cover with the engine in the car, do I need to remove any accessories ( power steering , alternator etc. )

Front timing chain cover

It depends on which timing chain you're referring to. I rebuilt my passenger timing chain assembly but pulled the engine out.I don't recall there being covers for either of the timing chains though.

That would make a difference.... Front timing cover. It seems fairly straight forward. I just can't find info in whether I have to remove accessories or their brackets.

Not sure how to close a thread on here or if it is even possible.

Fortunately I have discovered I do need to remove the timing chain cover to fix a water leak. Through the use of a boroscope I eventually discovered the leak was from a failed ultrasonic weld on the backside of he thermostat. Housing.
