Okay, fellas, here goes. Does anyone have a link to what they think is the best video ever made showing how to change-out the blend door actuator under the dash? I've found a few but thought I'd ask here so I can view all possible videos on this before I give this a shot.

Much appreciated fellas!

Oh, finally, I thought I read somewhere once a while back that there is an updated, more solid, part for this available. Anyone ever recall seeing this?

Not done quite yet...The problem area on my blend door is on the side where the vacuum canister type thingy attaches to the stem on the blend door. This is what's broken. I can't find a part number, though. Anyone?

Here is a pic of the problem.\

Finally figured it all out, guys. The part that is broken is from the fresh air door box and has nothing at all to do with the blend door actuator unit. Part number is: 1L2Z-18B259-AC - about $70. I have no idea what all is involved in changing this out so if anyone out here may have attempted this, I'd sure like to hear from you. It appears to be a larger sized part so just knowing that there isn't a whole lot of room under the dash in that area makes me think it may not be feasible for an amateur to attempt.

Here's a link as to how I solved it, -- with just grabbing stuff I had around the house. Or maybe you want to remove the dash and fix it right.. As for me, I like the fresh air door closed all the time. If I come across a dead animal, I'd rather keep the smell outside --same with being behind a diesel vehicle. And if I want fresh air, I can open the sunroof, or a window.
Fresh air door always open

when I did mine a few weeks ago on my 2002 Mountaineer, I just cut the sides of the little grate above the blower motor and was able to let it fold up and had enough room to get my hand in there barely, and push it back up in place and used some long screws and drilled a few at an angle to hold it back up against the firewall where it belongs.
No way was I taking the dash apart to fix this.
