My friend here at school has a 2003 Mitsubishi Diamante, 4 cylinder 2.4L I think is the size.
About a week ago, whenever she put it into Drive (Automatic tranny), it would take a few seconds to engage. Once it did, it would be fine.
Yesterday I pulled codes and there was nothing except for I think a 403, concerning an EGR circuit or something, but she said that had been there for a few years now.
I pulled the dipstick for the tranny fluid, and it was full, but it was BLACK, it looked like someone had put motor oil into it.
Am I right in thinking that this fluid being that bad could be the culprit? I'm going to change out the fluid for her this weekend (Knee surgery in a few hours) and hope that fixes it. I'd rather try something cheaper then replacing a whole transmission.
