2003 Sport Trac
Hi all.

Hope I can get some insight into this.

Is there a way to get my Sport Trac into overdrive while only going 32mph/50kph?

At 50mph/80kph it runs along at 1500RPM. <---in overdrive
At 32mph/50kph it runs along at 1500RPM. <---only in 4th...will not go into overdrive unless I accel up to the above speeds.
I would really like to see the lower RPM along with the lower speeds.

It would seem this is a huge waste of fuel...I get mid teens for mileage.

Surely the engine has enough power to shift into 5th at that speed.

i'm sure you could get the trans computer flashed to do it, but i'm pretty sure the tranny is setup to maximize fuel efficiency. but i could be wrong.....
welcome to the site!

Welcome to this forum! The RPMs seem high when the torque converter is locked. If you tap on the brake pedal, you will see the RPMs suddenly drop, then your speed will drop much faster. The engine doesn't appear to be struggling in your vehicle.

Thanks for the welcome :)

Is this a common RPM vs speed ratio for all?

I also drive a Dodge Stealth...I can putter around in 4th gear...which is around 1100 RPM with no problems.

I would assume it can be done with these trucks?

With custom tuning you could reflash your process with custom shift tables. Contact me if interested.-j
