2003 xlt a/c not working

I have a 2003 Explorer xlt. The ar conditioner does not work. The compressor clutch will not engage. I am gonna check if it needs to be recharged.

I also know that the fresh air door is broken and outside air is always coming. Is this part of the a/c problem?

No the fresh air door would have no effect on the compressor coming on.

Most common cause for inop compressor clutch is low refrigerant charge, after that I would check the fuses (and diode) then pressure switch and the clutch coil then relay.

Use only pure R134a (preferably DuPont SUVA) to charge it with, do not use leak sealers or anything with any "performance" additives.
