Ok, im thinkin about buying the KKR intake kit since its
the only one out there for 2004 4.0 v6 in an XLT..

But does the actual diameter of the intake at its smallest point
(i think this is the MAF or MAS) stay the same size?

In other words you can make the filter less resticive, but not the
actual air passage?

Im thinkin if thats true a drop in K and N in the original box(which will also
keep out engine heat) with an additional air intake into the bottom of
the box from the lower grille.(true cold air)

What do you all think?

Thanks much.

I have an idea that I want to implement on my 03 Mercury mountaineer premium edition V6 4.0. it consists of keeping the original air box or getting a bigger one with with a hole going towards the bottom of it. In other words I would have to relocate my windshield wiper fluid container a little bit further back so I could easily make a hole and access the area of the passenger side headlight and add a scoop custom-made or if I find one online or A you pull it salvage yard or custom make it. I've seen a video from Banks Air filters or diesels and I got the idea from there. Next is just finding the right area to relocate the windshield wiper fluid or buy a aftermarket one and place it to the firewall of the truck and keeping the original or bigger air box adding air filter call either k&n or any other brand out there maybe upgrading a MFA to a Mustang type as well as a Mustang 70 mm throttle body but with so much air going in you would have to upgrade your exhaust manifolds AKA your headers down pipe and exhaust system
