Hello.....The problems I am having with this explorer AWD #1....Very short turning radius......Both forward and while backing up in reverse.......Car seems to have an obstruction......Have to really accelerate to get it to move in reverse......#2.......Car seem to pull around 3000 RPM while driving down the road before it actually kicks into OD.........Any suggestions out there from my fellow explorer owners?

Ck your tire size and tread depth. You could have transfercase/ viscous clutch coupling problem. Also make sure your tire pressures are correct, these are very finicky when it comes to tires/ depth/pressure. Ford did have a tsb for false 4x4 engagement on 2004 year

Hey fellow Explorer owners.....Would draining the rear differential fluid from my 2004 Explorer help reduce the problems I'm having with the turning radius and the torque when I'm in reverse backing up? Garage said the clutches in the limited slip become dry and I should replace the OEm fluid with synthetic and an additive called friction modifier.....Anyone out there ever solved the problems I'm having by doing so? Thanx

welcome

Thanks.....No flashing O/D light......At a lost.....
