Ok, so I've read a few topics that have said to change a few different sensors but I am a bit strapped for cash and I'm wondering which one is the most likely culprit for the ABS light to come on? The truck has 87,x.. miles on it and is a RWD and doesn't have the advance track. It just came on last Saturday and its my DD so I need it to work. Is this a serious problem that needs to be fixed ASAP or am I ok to drive it around and wait until I get the money to replace all the sensors? Thanks!

Brett

It would be better to have the codes read first and it will tell you which sensor is bad. Mine was the rear sensor in the top of the differential housing that caused the abs light to come on. It was about $38.00 at the ford dealer.

By the way, it's not unsafe to drive if it is a failed sensor but your abs won't work if you lock the brakes.
The brakes will still work fine otherwise.

Awesome thanks! Another question, what causes the rough idle?

^ how many miles on it? Do a tune up lately (air, fuel filter, plugs? )

I also have 04 and had the ABS light stay on. IT was the (one and only) sensor in the rear differential. Just one bolt and a plug and it comes out.

Lower/ remove the spare tire, Blow off with compressed air around the sensor, remove the bolt ( i think 10mm) ,uplug, pull out the old sensor, put in the new one, plug it in. Put the spare tire back in, crank it up ( crank deal above the spare tire in the vehicle).

The light will stay on still once you start it, then drive it a little and it will go off. (at least that what happened to me).

I think my sensor was around 30$ from ford, i forget.

It has somewhere around 87k miles on it. Thanks for the info. :)
