I want to install heated mirrors, if i buy a set of heated mirrors are they plug n play....wiring all ready there on the truck? or do i have to run my own?

And where is the button to activate the mirrors on stock trucks?

hey riverview. . .welcome.
On my '04 the mirrors activate when you hit the rear window heater, on mine i have the Dual Zone and its next to the defrost.

Do you have power mirrors? If they are manual you might be out of luck because that would suggest no wires in the door for them. I'd expect with Pwr mirrors you would have extra wires in the connector if it was something like PwrMirros/Non-heated. . .

I've found that except for the Radio most of the wires 'should be' there. Not 100% on all systems, but i was able to add reverse sensors as all of the wires/connectors/fuses where there but unused.

Yes i have power mirrors, no dual zone,

I was thinking on wiring it in to the rear defrost if i had to...

You might be all set (sorry, not 100%); if you some place warm to work, the door panel comes off in 3 minutes tops, see if you can count the wires going to the mirror, you might have unused extras which would be for the heater. If i remember tonght i'll check the wiring FSM and find out what wires are what.

You will most likely want to figure out the amps that the mirrors draw and go from there most likely putting a relay in with a fuse. I've had customer ask me how to do it but for the most part its trial and error because every manufacturer has a different heat rating. Some get super hot while others just get luke warm.

My 02 XLS had standard power mirrors and I installed a set of powered/heated/lighted mirrors. Plug-n-play.

So twalter, were you able to install the heated mirror as plug and play?
