2004 Speakers Question

My wife's 2004 Eddie Bauer recently had a speaker go out. I'm trying to figure out what is in there without pulling the panel as I simply don't have a lot of time to diagnose the problem.

That said, I'm planning on snagging a new or used speaker for that door (stock is fine for this vehicle) but, I understand that there's an audophile option and a non-audiophile option. The audiophile option speaker is about $60 whereas the non is around $25 (new).

Was the EB equipped with the audiophile as a rule? I am nearly certain that this X has the factory sub in the back (that indicates audiophile, right?)

my '04 eb has the factory sub/factory in dash 6 cd changer. i believe its considered audiophile. if you are going to spend $60 on a stock speaker, you might as well get some aftermarket speakers. it will be well worth the extra money. if you really want the factory speakers, let me know and i will sell you mine for cheaper than $60.

OMG i would 100% go for an aftermarket speaker, for 60$ you can get a PAIR of aftermarket speakers that will vastly outperform a stock unit

They should be 6x8's, IIRC. I found some Infinity Reference 6x8's on ebay--can't remember store name--for about $60 shipped......

Go to Crutchfield dot com and enter your vehicle info....it will tell you what you need and give you some options. Then, get the model info from the ones you want and google them and you'll find them much cheaper.

Is this the Rockpick from f150online.com? gsp has it to a "T", though. I think we have 6x8's all around. The Infinity 3-ways will sound good in your wifey's Exploder.

Hi,
I'm wondering if Ford is having a problem with the speakers they're using, my passenger door speaker just went out as well. Nothing is ever a coincidence to me when it comes to a _ _ _ _. I also have the 6 CD in dash changer W/audiophile sys.

Probably not... It's usually factory speakers. Factory speakers are pretty basic, using basic, inexpensive materials. Sometimes, a connection will come lose behind the panel. Not necessarily a Ford problem, it's just speaker quality.
