I have a 2004 XLT with 90,000 miles and the air selector switch for the heat and a/c has stopped working. It will not direct the air flow to any one direction (defroster vents, dash vents, or floor vents), but will flow air to all at the same time. When listening down close to the switch, it sounds as though it's operating when the knob is being turned, but the air flow does not change. Any thoughts? Thank you!

Thanks for your reply. After reading further and doing a little more checking under the hood, it appears that I might have a vacuum line off in the engine compartment. The grey and black vacuum lines come out of the firewall from behind the glovebox and the grey goes into the top of some sort of a small vacuum container just above plugs #2 and #3. The bottom of this container has a nipple, but no hose attached to it and I've been unable to find any loose hoses within the engine compartment.
