I want to improve the towing suspension of my 2005 Explorer Limited that has the 4.6L and factory tow package. I use a weight distribution hitch with 2 friction sway controls. I pulled our trailer from Houston, Texas to North Pole, Alaska in a three week/5,000 miles trip, but had some problems with wind causing sway and lower than ideal weight transfer to the front that caused my anti-lock brakes to cycle on the front a few times.
In the forums I didn't see heavy duty rear springs for towing.
Are there heavy duty rear springs for 2005 Explorers?
Has anyone installed the "Sway bar 02-05 Explorer-Helper bar rear" from Explorer Express?
http://www.explorerexpress.com/sway-0205-explorerhelper-rear-p-381.html
It states that it gives a little rear support .5" lift and side to side stabilization.
I have several weeks before I can start back to the lower 48 so I want to find some help and install it before May.
