- 2005 Explorer xlt 4.0 SOH
Hi,
This is got me by the tail. 2005 explorer throws the above codes. I've changed out all the plugs/wires. Put in new coil pack(old one tested out fine, found out later on). Replaced MAF sensor. Car runs better with the sensor disconnected. Short test run.
Car idles rough, will throw codes upon first acceleration. If not accelerated it will misfire but the check engine light will go off after a minute or 2. You can feel the idle steady out when light goes out.
Did a stethoscope listen to injectors 1& 2. Both clicking at about same rate.
My next plan is to pull intake manifold, replace all injectors( car has 126000 miles on it), and manifold gaskets.
The MAF sensor was reading at idle 7.2gm/sec(0.959 #/ min). I had an new MAF on hand and threw it on.
I have not found anything on line about a possible intermittent disruption of current to the coil that fires 2/6.
That's my only common point for 2/6 misfire, unless 2 /6 injectors decided to fail/ act up at the same time.
Any insight to this puzzle will help me keep my sanity.
Thanks in advance dkline53
