All,
I have read through a lot of posts here about the air/heat system of the Explorers, but have not found any that seem to satisfy my itch.
My Explorer's blower works - I can hear it blowing softly when set to "1" and loudly when set to "4;" but it does not come out of any vents. Not the windshield defrost, the floor, center console, or back. The heat and cool (cool outside air and A/C) do work, but I can only feel them if I put my hand directly against the vents. Air sorta seeps out, not fast enough to alter the temperature of the cabin. The vents are open, and when I pulled the fuses, the main and alternate blowers are functioning (and stop functioning with fuses pulled). It is like the vent is closed or jammed (which is why I noted that they are open above - that would be embarrassing).
I have not seen any description quite like the one above here, though it most closely matches issues with the blend door actuator. The only hang-up I have on that is that it seems like a blend door malfunction would prevent the hot/cold change that I am able to get.
If it is a blend door issue, I have found a few very good posts that include photos and can do it... just do not want to pull my console apart if it will not be helpful! Is there anything else that I have overlooked?
Thank you,
Clinton
