Been a member here since I forget when about a year ago, when I bought my used Explorer. Bought it from a small time dealer. They just bought it at an auction and did nothing to it and I bought it intentionally that way, pre dealer touched. I don't trust people, what can I say. It proved to be correct, their claims it had no codes were obvious when I looked at it, because it had a check engine light on. Turned out it was the Solenoid on the 55R transmission, I ran some fluid in it a few times while waiting on the part I bought new off fleabay and have since put about 20k on it and IN my world a year later. It is due for another service soon. Up next was the EGR I got a "sometimes" code on, it was there and sometimes it was not, how weird is that? I bought a new one online, and it was not the right one...Ugggggg! I took the old one apart and took the diaphragm out of the new one and made rebuild so to speak of the old one. It was the diaphragm, it was rotted and soon to be leaving codes on the dash for good and demand attention. I was annoyed, but was a decent solution to my problem of not wanting to deal with sending the wrong part back. This was all last year in Dec 2018.

Fast forward to last month Aug/Sept 2019 and I lost a passenger side upper ball joint in my driveway, and was very happy it let go there. I just got done towing a trailer and just got off the highway from a 300 mile round trip, phew! I again ordered the parts online, holding my breath that they were correct, and replaced upper and lowers on both side to find the lowers were both good actually, but both uppers were giving/gave up. Now that said when the upper on the passenger side came out it laid over and pulled the half shaft out, I replaced that too. I literally via Rock Auto spent 175.00 and have a front end I will never probably have to worry about.

After I got done doing the ball joints it went from upper 90's during the day to the 30's at night and my battery took a crap that was a 2016 year stamp and so it did some weird stuff that I think affected the control Trak and caused an error light preventing it from continuing the self check. I replaced the battery cleared the codes, c1991/c1998 and have had no further issues there, as of today.

And as of last week, TPMS issues, I really hate these little *******s. I tried the TPMS bomb and it would not work, so I just chunked them and was ready to deal with resetting the button every few minutes, and to my surprise it gives one warning and I reset it and never see it again until the next start. I have bought Forscan and my NexIQ pass through connector (that works on my Diesel Semi software) does not work with Forscan so I bought a Vita one and going to try and turn it (TPMS) off completely and continue with the old school tire valves, hopefully Forscan and this Vita pass through connector play well together.

The Explorer has 212,918 miles as of last night. I will be doing a coolant flush and checking/replacing the CCT's today.

Future stuff is cosmetic and some function on the drivers seat fixing the leather and cushion and the electronics switch.

My Explorer has a name I call it MADISON. Anyway, this is my hello to the group here, been trolling and yes have gotten a lot of relative info on my repairs along with FordTechMakuloco on youtube, good guy there, and hope all have a great day.

BK, welcome to the forum. It is very convenient when the truck breaks in the driveway & you do not have to have it towed home. My wife's 99 Explorer Sport 's fuel pump died parked in the driveway.
