2006 Blower Motor Issue

My daughter's 2006 Explorer Eddie Bauer developed a sudden heat/A/C blower issue -- no matter what fan speed setting she uses, the fan blows at top speed constantly.

If she tries to lower the fan speed, the graphic on the display shows a slower speed is selected (fewer stacked LED bars) but the actual blower speed stays at max.

I would appreciate any advice -- we are trying to fix it ourselves as her college expenses has us all broke, LOL!

The variable speed resistor for the motor is bad and needs to be replaced. Search for it in this forum and you should find a post with all the necessary information in it.

I found out the hard way.... The Eddie Bauer model does not use the simple $25 resistor pack, it uses p/n 3L2H-19E624-AA, completely different look and function and it is not just resistors -- it has a huge transistor and heat sink on it and the heat sink goes into the ductwork. Grrrrrr.......

I am thinking that the "heat sink" must be your temperature sensor for the auto climate control system.

The heat sink is to keep the transistor cool as it generates a lot of heat, it is only used on eatc units no mater the model.

Yes, tt is truly a heat sink and it gets darn hot in use so be careful or you will burn your fingers - ask me how I know.

Plus that package may also control heated seat because suddenly that works now after replacing this "resistor" (plus transistor) pack.
