I have a 2006 crown victoria 145k automatic. I was doing some city type driving after a 1 hour highway trip and all the sudden the car refused to go into 3rd.
In drive , it will go into first, then second , but when it goes to shift to third it simply acts as if it's in a neutral state and does not engage. Until the vehicle slows down in which it goes back into second. D2 , D1 , reverse , park all work fine. I checked the fluid warm and it's comepletly full. I also tried disconnecting the battery for 30mins and it didn't help.
This happened yesterday on christmas eve of all times. I've heard maybe a neutral safety switch? I tried looking all over the web and couldn't find a similar problem with this make and year at all.
