I have a 2006 Eddie Bauer with Automatic 4WD, traction control and a 4.6L. I am getting all sorts of weird codes. I got an evap system engine light, but the solenoid, canister and system checked out fine. I got a rear right speed sensor code that trips the ABS and traction control warning lights, but replaced the sensor and nothing changed. No crack in the wheel for the sensor, as often happens with these. Now I'm getting a pretensioner fault code, but it is not flashing to tell me which side. On top of all that, I'm only getting periodic communication from the PCM with my scanner. I reset the codes and then got a cylinder head temperature sensor light, even thought the engine is barely warm. I have read that there are sometimes issues with the instrument clusters and PCMs themselves. Any thoughts? Am I chasing ghosts here. Thanks!

I also have 06 EB with v8 and luckily not having any of these issues but.....

My wife's Subaru Tribeca had similar symptoms twice: she would have an error reading "rear differential temperature", "traction control" light and all kind of weird messages.
It ended up being a faulty alternator, and so maybe yours is dying as well ??

PS: I said twice because the first alternator lasted few months and died again (it was a rebuilt aftermarket unit), but the second time she also had all kind of check lights on the dashboard indicating numerous components failing. Check the ground cable going from the battery to the fender, loosen the bolt, clean it if possible, and retighten it.
