2006 Eddie Bauer 2x4
Hello,

I just purchased a 06 Eddie Bauer Explorer and I am having weird electrical problems. It has 46,000 miles on it and when you put the key in the ignition, it won't turn over. It has been sitting for a year and I thought it was the anti-theft inhibitor, since the warning light flashes non-stop when you try to start the car. I tried re-programming it using the owner's manual but that didn't work. I replaced the battery and it is fully charged. That also didn't work. I replaced the battery in the remote but it didn't work. I was hoping that the dealer could re-program the key.

Now it is at the dealership and the guy says that the instrument cluster and the transevor (sp?) needs to be replaced. Also it shows the airbags have been activated??? He quoted a price of $1500. Ugh... Has anyone had similar experiences?

Thanks,
Erika

hi ericka, yes a deployed airbag might wreck the steerig wheel/column components, when I got my truck they had a repaired mounty and the key wouldn't release so there might be something broken in there not sure if a locksmith can fix it good luck

Thanks, I wasn't sure where to put it.

Good to know. Well, the parts are supposed to come in tomorrow. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it all works out.

Let us know how it works out and what they had to replace, to leave as reference for someone having the same issue
