I have a 2006 explorer 4.0 with 124K and today it would not blow hot air. I initially pulled actuator but that works fine, no stripped gears or any of that. Wondering if theres a vacuum leak or something else. It has not had any recent work done to it.

after popping radiator cap, i do not see coolant in there. It looks to be a little wet beside the heater control valve. So guessing that maybe leaking and causing me to lose fluid. plan to replace that and coolant and see where that goes

FWIW - I replaced my heater control valve almost 3 years ago - they are known to start leaking so that's a good place to start. While you're right there, make sure the wye for your rear heater, if so equipped, isn't leaking. Another known problem which might cause confusion since it's close.

I replaced the thermostat housing today because I could see it was leaking some. I replace coolant and still no heat. I guess i will try the heater control valve now. I am not 100% sure it leaks but I already have one here, so maybe it stopped up?
