Well this is something new on me , I just purchased an 06 Explorer Limited with the v8 and was looking under the truck and happened to noticed a small water puddle on the under side of the cat , started it up and sure enough theres a tiny hole in the back/underside of the cat , is this normal ? I know they will put them in mufflers for moisture to escape but in the cat , seems to me that would get hot enough there would be no need.
Can someone verify this for me ?
Thanks ,
Ronny

Hmmm… I also saw one on my cousin’s Ford Catalytic Converter, but we didn’t actually know what it is for, though it doesn’t affect the performance of the cat. I wish somebody would answer what it is. I’ve got curious as well.

Thats the exact reason its there. To allow condensation to drain out and not cause corrosion.

Oh... Right. How stupid I am not having the thought of that. Thanks though.

That's what I thought but wanted to make sure......
Thanks alot !
