2006 V8 Cracked Radiator

IIRC, the numbers on your radiator and the same as his. I heard the Ford "updated" one ends in -AD. Not -AB. Still, I have read that those fail as well. I know there is a TSB for the 06 EX and 07 ST's. I think it's for the 4.0's only though. Build before 8/08/06. They replace with "updated rad" and re-program the PCM to have the fan spin faster and sooner. Maybe there's one for the V8s? Sounds like there should be.

Thanks guys, that helps quite a bit!

Flag, I think I can handle the MAF and throttle body cleaning, but the SCT tuner I am not so sure of. I looked on their site and got the SCT SF3 Power Flash Ford Program but then it said search for a local dealer. Is that the only way to obtain the tuning unit?

Also there was no pricing, I suppose I need to call the dealer for that but it looked like a pretty serious perfomance shop, I don't want them laughing at me!

Thanks again!

Amazon can be the lowest pricing for model 3015, but will only come loaded with the tune files from SCT no other custom tunes will be provided and that is where a local shop would be able to provide you with a very specific tune file just for you, but in your case since you have no significant modifications you don't need a shop custom tune file. Since you do use it for towing I would call SCT and ask if they provide a towing specific tune (or if the tunes are safe for towing) so that you don't have to revert to factory settings when you go to tow. Pricing right now for just the 3015 with no custom tunes runs $350-380.

Sprung a leak today. JB Weld lasted 3 1/2 days. Oh well. Granted we didn't apply it all that great.

Thanks for additional info Flag Gibby. I think I'm catching on, I looked at the Henson Performance site and looks like they've got the 3015 for around the price you mentioned so I will contact them if I decide to go that route.

Markaprice73 good luck with your install, you will be saving a lot of $$$. I just had mine installed by an independent shop and it was around $750 ($350 for the unit plus labor). I'm pretty confident I could have gotten this price down at least at $100 or so by shopping around more or even haggling with the guy I used but I just was not in the mood to go there and I need the truck back ASAP!

Also, if this guy does higher quality work (like he's telling me) and really stands behind his work it might be worth a little extra. Not sure what that means when it comes to a radiator, but other repairs it could make some difference.

All things considered this truck has been pretty good, with a few notable exceptions... bad heater blender door, bad wheel bearings and a super crazy spark plug issue to name a few. That said I still like it, hopefully I can keep it running good for another 50k miles or so!

Thanks. Yep. Sometimes it's just best to give it to a pro. Warren-teed labor and parts is always a good thing. Haggling is just not worth it sometimes. Your own time is always a premium as well. The time I'm going to spend doing this kinda sucks. That's time away from the Wife and Kids on my only day off. I really don't mind though:) I'm mainly doing it to re-pay my Father back for money he has lent me in the past.
Ha. His blend door is broken as well. That one I'm not touching:) His struts are next in line.
