Searching for coils for 2006 Mount 4.6l

Not sure since vendors sites vary.
Here's what I'm finding:

DG508 angled boot
DG511 on Ford Part.com
DG521 is tad longer brown boot/same as 511's

The 508 and 511 vary vendor to vendor.
The 521 shows fitment for 2008-2010 only.
Why wouldn't the DG521 work in the 08 and notnin 06 with identical motor

What am i missing?

Looking at
AC Delco
Denso
Delphi
Jeg's
A1
Read good things on Bravex....but maybe too cheap.
MotorCraft. Looks most expensive, not by a very large margin.

08 was the transition year from a 2 piece design to a 1 piece design of sparkplugs. If your coil boots are brown, you have the new design.
But I can tell you from owning our 06 for 14 years and doing the plugs and coils many times, stick with Motorcraft. Search Amazon or eBay for a good deal. I am not saying aftermarket brands don't work, but cheap/bad coils will cause drivability issues, kicking transmission, limp modes and other problems.

Thank you. Mine is '06 about to hit 209k
I thought the accels that it came with may have been for the Mustang, so i swapped them for a set of A 1 Autos. That was 4 years ago when it had around 140k.
Two coils were changed over the years.
Once on road trip, tried a generic brand, and it ran worse. Had to go motorcraft.
Just exploring other brands since i always see denso at the shop that works on my car.
Most of the higher rated brands are slightly cheaper than Motorcraft.
Was curious to see other's experience out here.
Thanks 👍

I bought Motorcraft DG 511 for my 06, that was what my came from the factory with. I replaced all 8.

Something is wrong with me :)
You clearly stated yours is 06 and not sure why I thought it's an 08 (thus the transition response). Like Chuck said above, I also use DG511.
If you shop around, you should be able to get 8 for about $ 200.
I used a set of yellow Accells once and 2 failed within a year or so. #3 and #4 are critical since the transmission harness runs next to them and if they are bad, they will create signal issues. I replace the valve body in my transmission twice since all was pointing to that. In the end the coils fixed it for good. Even Ford dealership told me my Mechatronic is shot, which was wrong.

I've an '06, when I bought it in '18, coils were bad, ran rough, trans acted like it was hunting gears, etc. Seller told me the O2 sensors needed replaced, hence the trans shift issues. *roll eyes*

I threw on a set of amazon cheap **** coils and they got me by for about a year. Last fall, I had to replace the coils, threw in plugs (Motorcraft, of course) and as well, I sourced Motorcraft coils from Rock Auto. A little cheaper than anywhere else. My missing power is back, and it runs strong like before.

I'd go with motorcraft stuff, were it mine that needs parts. Just me. :)

Yes, i thinknlogging on to an old computer had something to do with it.

Thanks to everyone that contributed.
Discrepancies throughout kept me from ordering.
Some had the '06-10' using same coil.

One site noted that you can install the dg521 brown / longer.boot...essentially it is the same coil..you can trim the boots back or swap out your old ones.

That's what i opted for.
Saved about $80+
I'll report back with my findings.
