2007-2011 Ranger Head Unit no Sound

I put a new (2007+) Ranger stereo head unit in my 2001 Explorer. Both of the pin connector plugs clicked in perfectly, but the speakers aren't getting any sound. The head unit powers up and works every way I was expecting it to, except the speakers don't get any sound/power. I tried playing with the mute button, am/fm, cd, aux, and even balance/fade but they have no effect. Anyone know what is going on?

Were the newer Rangers wired differently or did they use different pins for the speakers? Or could this have something to do with the rear audio controls on the Explorer console since the Rangers didn't have them?
